CNE Trains Polling Station Staff on Brava Island
The CNE began a training session today on Brava Island for polling station staff; the session will run through Friday, the 6th, to prepare them to carry out their duties in the presidential election scheduled for November 15.
Speaking to Inforpress, the National Electoral Commission (CNE) delegate in Brava, David Pascoal, explained that the training aims to equip polling station officials to perform their duties as effectively as possible, given the importance of their role in the organization and smooth operation of the election.
According to Pascoal, the performance of polling station staff is essential to ensuring a positive image of the electoral process; therefore, the initiative aims to prevent difficulties and unpleasant situations during voting.
Regarding the number of registered voters, David Pascoal reported that, following the registration adjustment period, the voter rolls are now in the final, unalterable phase, currently totaling 4,450 voters, distributed across 22 polling stations.
Compared to the legislative elections, the CNE delegate noted a slight increase in the number of registered voters—less than 200—although the comparative data is held by the Electoral Registration Commission (CRE).
When asked about the conditions for conducting the electoral process on the island, David Pascoal stated that they are working to ensure the elections proceed normally, expressing confidence that, on November 15, all voters will be able to exercise their right to vote with peace of mind and freedom of choice.
The candidates running for President of the Republic are Gilson Alves, Casimiro de Pina, José Maria Neves, Antero Tavares, Joana Rosa, and Loisito de Sousa.
The candidates are vying for voters’ support in the November 15 presidential election, which will select the head of state for a five-year term.
